Hugo is a 100+-year-old Venezuelan Sea Turtle who has ‘early-onset dementia. He works as the head chef of the Ability Crew.
Hugo has seen it all before. He often dreams of the good old days, whenever and if ever they were. When he was a young turtle of 65, he was one of the most beloved chefs in the Southern hemisphere and the manager of the gourmet restaurant ‘Sí Food’, the only restaurant ever to receive 33 Michelin stars somehow.
The restaurant business went bad after customers discovered the restaurant was infested with cockroaches. High society can be a racist bunch, so the restaurant very quickly shut down.
Hugo has an antagonist relationship with the ship’s janitor Luigi, mostly due to Luigi’s pranks and Hugo’s cleanliness standards. Hugo is very troubled by something. He cannot seem to remember how he joined the Ability Crew, and neither can anyone else for that matter. His Book of Truth helps him keep track of things, but Luigi is never far from meddling with Hugo’s ‘memories’.
